DIGIPACK- research

I have selected these images of album covers above, as I think personally each show a similar style and overall feel that I would like to recreate for ym digipack and magazine adverisment. The similarities include their simplicity, colour of from and style of photograph used. Although the Xx album cover does not contain an image it does, however include a white 'X' cutout which fits in with the style of the other covers I have chosen to look at.  The simplicity of each cover works well as it inkeeps with the genre is each artist and the image they are creating, the use of a simple font accentuates the photographs used, contrasting with the colours used. The last album shows (James Blake) shows a similar style however is more edited the colours are edited so there is only blue used and the image of Blake has been altered to look blurred, this fits in with the style hes associated with his music videos linking the  package together.

The artwork used for the Vampire Weekend album of the chandelier works really well, by not using an image of a model or band member is inkeeps with their musical genre and adds an air of mystery to the band. I feel that using houehold objects such as a kitchen utensils or a chair could be really effective also.
