Risk Assesment

When we are in the process of filming our music v(ideo there will be many risks attached to the task itself. These risks will vary from the location, to the props that we use in the video.

1. Tripping over location objects
Severity: Medium
Likelihood: Medium
Precautions to be taken: All crew and cast need to be aware of the surroundings they are in and be aware of any dangerous object which are in the natural location.  To reduce the risk of a fallen accident taking place, all crew and cast need to be wearing suitable shoes and be careful when moving fast through the woodland area.

2. Temporary Structures (Ladder)
Severity: High
Likelihood: Medium
Precautions to be taken: We may intend to use a ladder throughout our music video to take some high angled shots. To reduce the risk of a high severity, for example someone taking a serious fall from a ladder, we will need to make sure there is someone supporting the ladder at all times. Additionally we need to ensure that any temporary structures are placed on a smooth surface where there is minimal chance of fall or instability.

3. Vehicles
Severity: None
Likelihood: None
Precautions to be taken: None

4. Special Effects
Severity: None
Likelihood: None
Precautions to be taken: None

5. Sparklers .
Severity: High
Likelihood: Medium
Precautions to be taken: Too make sure that the sparklers are handled very carefully when filming is taken place. All cast must be safe when using the sparklers and insure they keep well away from faces and other body parts

STORYBOARD analysis

Below are photographs of our original storyboard, these are created to organise, plan and schedule each shot in consecutive order as they come in the film. By using post it's it enabled us to alter and swap shots freely and neatly. After completing the story board we've concluded that our video will contain, approximately, 122 shots in its entirety.
Each shot shows a rough illustration of what we invisage the shot to look like, a brief description of type of shot, the lyrics present (if any) shown in shot and the length, in seconds, of the duration of said shot.
Following the completion of the storyboard, it was then a case of creating an 'animatic.' (see post below). To do this we then scanned in the boards using an A3 scanner, each 'shot' was then cropped from the main image to create an individual illustration of the shot and then saved as a JPEG. This continued until each shot was separated individually, using a memory stick these images were then transferred onto Abbies Mac where we began to put together the animatic. The idea of an animatic is to get a clear idea of how the shot corresponds with the lyrics/genre and timing of the song at hand.

Some parts of creating a storyboard are negative, for example the overall task is extremely time consuming taking on average an hour to produce 20-30 seconds worth of shots. It also relies on you coming up with new ideas constantly, although repeated shots are often present in music videos to many can become tedious and boring to for the viewer. As our video will mainly show elements of disjuncture we need to be able to find all the props well in advance as some are slightly unusual. The masks, for example, for our character may br difficult to source in the time schedule. However by creating the starboard we were able to create a detailed list regarding what probs we will require when filming.

Over all I think our storyboard was a success, despite taking an extended period of time to complete. Our shots can now be grouped into sections and put onto a shot schedule, this involves creating a list or table of which shots can be filmed together, i.e. shots in one certain location can be done at a certain time dedicated to catching the particular shots. It also helped us decide that in hindsight we could have made a more simple video as simple is something the most effective, however, is this draft is filmed well and completed in a good quality camera And edited fully and proffessionally.

Animatic Analysis

After creating a storyboard for the 3 minutes and 25 seconds of our song the post below is the result when putting each shot together to create an animatic. Each shot in the animatic is approximately how long we are aiming for the shots to last when we film our final product.

Now that the animatic and storyboarding process is completed we have both been able to see, that several shots throughout our video may need to be clipped or split due to them lasting slightly longer than need be. We understand that several of the shots in the video are intact too long and have taken note of ways in which we will be adjusting these. Additionally, we must take into consideration that we are clipping the first 5 seconds of the song so the first clip during the animated is in fact 5 seconds longer that it would be when filmed.

Something else we have taken note of is the clips that we have chosen to repeat on several occasions. We aren't sure if these look too much yet but will test this when filming and if so, we will adapt our clips to create more variation throughout.

Overall, by putting the animatic together it has allowed us to see that our video has a combination of ideas that we are capable to film for the final.

EXAMPLE - Stay Awake

This video by Example conbines elements of dijuncture with illustration. The lip synching is done in studio shot, kept simple by using a blank white backdrop and greyscale colour pallette. This is effective for his genre of music as it keeps the video looking quite polished and proffessional. This would not be as suitable for our genre as it seems to 'pop' for our band.
However the elements of disjuncture shown throughout show a look we would like to create in our music video. Tha caracters used are a little to clean cut to be suited for our video but the general idea and location are similar to the overall look we would like to acheive. The post production editing is also something we would like to use in our video. In this example slow motion has been used often, as our chosen song (SBTRKT Wildfire) is quite slow tempo we think that a slow motion effect used on a select few shots could work well.
Examples video also shows elements of binary opposites, in that the clean  white studio shots contrast strongly with the mess, chaos and colours used in the disjuncture shots.

PROP LIST

For our video we will need a number of different props including different costume changes. These are vital for the overall effect we are trying to portray, the video is an example of an almost completely disjucture film, with just a few key scenes of lipsynching.
Ideally we need good weather conditions, for a select few shots having the sun shine through the trees is the key element to that particular shot. An evening where the sky is claer or partially clear, when the sun is low in the sky would be ideal. As the video progresses the sun should sink lower into the horizon as we are aiming to have the video ending at dusk/ lamost dark.

For the band members (Costume):
- Doc Martens (Pat)
- Black skinny jeans (Pat)
- Tshirt/shirt (Pat)
- Tights or stockings (Grace)
- Shirt (Grace)
- Dress (Grace)
- Black Eyeliner (Grace)
- Dark & Bright Lipstick (Grace)

For the Characters Costume:
- Rabbit mask
- Ghost outfit (Sheet)
- Indian headdress?
- Paper bag

Props:
- Balloon
- Water Balloon
- Fizzy Drink (can)
- Sparkler

PASSONFONTAINE

These images images show band members 'Ritzy' and 'Vince'. The pair together are ascthetically pleasing and also show a Levii Strauss binary opposite of male and female. Both represent a similar style of 'indie', shirts are worn buttoned to the collar, hair is edgey and slightly 'rough and ready' and poses are kept natural and simple.
Both images have been edited using photoshop to give an authentic appearence which suits and fits well with the genre of band & style. A blank backdrop has been used, again enhancing the simplicity of the shots. In contrast to the natural poses used in the shots the first image (top) shows a slightly 'tongue in cheek' expression shown by Pat (Vince). This shows the audience that they, as a band, do not take themselves too seriously, almost as if they are giving the finger to the polished 'pop princesses' that are manufactured for the media today.
For the album artwork we will create after shooting our video a similar genre of shot could be used, this would cotrast to the disjuncture used in our film as the image would just be the actual band members. However we could also combine the two techniques of disjuncture and illustration, creating a photo of PASSONFONTAINE which also contains elements of characters used in the video which have no obvious link to lyrics or band.

Band Styling- Inspiration

As there are only two members that make up the band 'Passonfontaine' styling is something that we are able to get exactly right for the two members. As we aim to make the  video we create  have a slightly eerie and strange feel to it, the outfits are something that we need to ensure fit in with this style. This means we are able to show continuity throughout the video itself and the style process. The styling process is crucial to make the band easily identifiable for their own unique quirky style. Additionally the image of the band can have a huge impact on a music video itself and can call intensify the house style that the band are trying to deliver to their audience.

Our female artist 'Ritzy' who will be played by Grace, is going to present a slightly odd/messy look throughout the video. This look is going to be amplified by the styling of Grace's hair and the way in which make up is going to be used up on Grace to get her into the role of the 'character' that is featuring in the video.
Additionally the way in which we will by styling Pat is much more simplistic but will hopefully still be affective amongst the scenery and extras that feature within the video itself. We will be dressing Pat in something fairly basic and clean cut, for example a shirt, skinny jeans and pair of Dr Martens but in the same way as Grace, styling other features to give him a slightly 'odd' and 'untidy' appearance. This way the audience are able to link to the two artists similarities together through the slightly un polished look that they will both carry.

As we have chosen to base our project around the genre of 'electronica' this also suggests that the pair will have a certain expected 'look' about them. For example if we had chosen the genre 'rock' our artists would be dressed in dark and slightly grungy clothing with elements of leather and metal as these are fashion  features that we automatically stereotype with rock  music. For our genre, electronica, we believe the typical style is currently not 'harshly' stereotype, therefore we can have a play around with a few looks and different styles of presentation. This will mean as a pair, we can identify which look suits the two best and also which highlight factors of continuity from the style of the video, the song and the personalities of the two artists themselves.

LOCATION

Above are a few select images of what are location would ideally look like. Th ewoodland scenery makes an excellent backdrop for a disjuncture video to take place. The fourth image (centre right) shows the sun bursting through the forest creating silhouettes and abstract shadows, giving the image an artistic air of mystery. The last image (bommon right) shows the back of a female head, the image of a girl in a woodland location creates a feel and image that she is perhaps lost or looking for something, take Alice in Wonderland, for example; a girl lost in a wood or, or in Alices case, 'wonderland'. With this in mind, a woodland becomes a perfect location for a disjuncture music video to take place. With the actions having no connection to the lyrics or genre of band, unusual things happening in shot may not look out of place or inappropriate.

Our storyline is loosely tells the story of a girl and boy looking for each other in a forest, with a number of unusual and strange characters and events taking place. We have taken inspiration from a number of videos including: Crystal Castles 'Celestica', Example 'Stay Awake', Florence and the Machine 'Dog days are Over', Crystal Fighters 'Follow' and Foals 'Olympic Airways'.

STORY BOARD

To ensure and finalise the storyline and band members/characters used in our video we have broken down each shot and created a storyboard. We have decided to used post it notes to create our board as it gives us more freedom to re-order and change certain shots if we decide to do so. This part of pre-production planning helps when the filming process starts as it allows us to organise when are where each shot takes place and record which shots have been filmed.  Our video is mostly disjucture, with the content of shots showing no obvious link to the lyrics, however, we have also used elements of amplification by using lip synching by the band members.
Each shot/post-it shows a sketch of what we invisage the shot to look like, the length of seconds the shot will last for, type of shot (long, mid, panning etc.) any action that occurs in shot, any post-production effects we would like to use and which, if any, lyrics in the shot.

Band Members

We have finally made our decision on two band members we feel would look 'authentic' when used in our music video. The female member of the band that will be playing the part of the vocalist 'Ritzy Kokal' will be Grace Mcdonnell. After using Grace last year for my music magazine, I felt that she was a great character infront of the camera and presented herself well through many different styles and this is something that will be great for our music video.

Addtionally, the male member of our band that we have chosen to use is Patrick Mills. He will be featuring as the band member Vince Blake. Last year Julia also used Pat for the male band member throughout her magazine project and felt that he also played the part well so we are therefore continuing the use throughout this project.

Below are a few images of the band members themselves:

Refining Location Ideas

After narrowing our location ideas down to a minimum we have decided to refine our setting down even more.We will be combining two settings and incorporating them into our video. The main location that we will be shooting the majority of the video's shots will be an outside location. We have also decided that this will be in a wood/forest as we have continued to be keen on the idea of having many objects and shadows throughout the video we feel that the trees and natural scenery will come into good use throughout, and in addition keep the video looking professional and realistic. Here are a few examples of videos that we hope to take inspiration from regarding the setting that has been chosen:

This Florence and the Machine video is a nice example of an outside woodland location. I believe that it creates a very realistic and natural setting for the video. Something that we may want to consider is the lighting, as we have had ideas of using many dark shots, the editing may be something that we need to bare in mind when filming outside. Additionally, within our own video, we will be incorporating some interior shots, unlike this video, which also means we will have to consider when setting change is appropriate throughout the song itself.

This Crystal Fighters video for one of their releases 'At Home' represents an excellent example of using an outside woodland location which then cuts to a very simple and 'merky' inside location. As we have decided on using two locations very similar to this, I have added this video for inspiration as I believe it contains some prime examples of cross cutting and switching locations (which will be very similar to our own).

Below are just a few more examples of the locations we feel that we will be taking inspiration from although the style of our video (disjuncture) will not be following the same as the few shown below.

MALE- moodboard

Our male member of the band 'Vince Blake's image needs to be laid back, but with an air of cool/edgyness. Josh Beech for example, is a classic, good looking 'model type' however he has created his own idividual image with his tatoos, dress, and characteristics of the poses he uses in shoots.
Our bands image needs to be what our audience would perceive as being 'cool' in order for the 'Passonfontaine' to gain respect as a band and to get a following/fan base.
The typical outfit our male band member would wear would probably consist of; black skinny jeans, a nike trainer or doc marten, a shirt either printed or plain or vintage sportswear t-shirt. The hair would normally be the standard short back and sides cut, either with or without a hat.

FEMALE- Moodboard

I created this moodboard using photoshop using images of female celebrities who show a similar style to that of our female band member. The look we are going for is a 'indie' style but with an edge. Take Coco Sumner, for example, shows a classic 'indie' look but puts her own cool persona to it, giving her style and edge.

Feedback Analysis

Our was presented as an Animoto presentation (see below) I felt that the pitch was a success giving people a clear insight of what we want our song to be and the overall feel of the video should be.

The comments we recieved generall shared the same views. Overall, the ideas for the song and video work well and are clear, however we need to be clearer and more consise on the image of our band. The members of 'Passonfontaine' consist of a female lead and male on instrumentals, similar band setups are; The Xx and Crystal Castles, who are mixed gender bands of a similar genre. After a 'group discussion' we have decided to create a moodboard of inspirational people/bands, who, we think, are how our bands image should be.

Pitch Evaluation/Feedback

After delivering our pitch to the class I am pleased with how it went overall. As you can see in the previous post we used Animoto to present our pitch to class. This consisted of many images and 25 words incorporated into a short video. The words that we chose to use on our pitch were

The feedback that received from our peers mainly consisted of comments that were very similar. The feedback that we received  notified us that we will need to create a clearer picture of the style that our artists will be portraying. This means that we need to create a band profile giving a description and style of the female and male artists within the band. This way our peers and audience will have a much clearer image and style that our band is following.

CRYSTAL CASTLES

I have chosen this image for a piece of inspiration due to the mystery behind the photo itself. As the two artists are in fact masked it takes away their identity. From this I believe it gives the photo much more character and story to the artist whom are in it. The hiding of identity may be something that we could consider when creating our music video.

Moodboard

I have created a mood-board which consist of a few ideas we could maybe incorporate into our music videos. I have also added album artwork to give an idea of the types of artists our target audience might listen to and additionally the genre we have chosen. Some of the other images on the board I feel may give us some inspiration as to what style we want our music video to follow and also ideas for mise en scene, for example, costume.

Mount Kimbie- Before I Move Off

I particularly enjoy this video due to the montage of images that are incorporated into the visuals. I once again like the idea of complete disjuncture but also the amplification that the visuals have on the lyrics.

Twitter

I've set up a twitter account for the new band 'Passonfontaine'. This means that the bands fan base can follow the band and keep up to date with their latest activity and update on any new material that they make be working on.

Here is the link to the twitter page:

Audience Profile

Name: Kaya

Age: 18 years

Description: Kaya is a few months into finishing her A Levels in her hometown of Brighton at the local college. She is currently studying Media, Art and Music. She is hoping to move onto University to study one of her options which is either Music Production or Fine Art. Kaya is highly focused on her appearance and throughly enjoys attending fashion events such as her local fashion shows and fashion nights promoting local stores around the Brighton area. Her two favourite genre's of music consist of Electronica and Indie and she feels that these two are being combined for frequently within the music industry and this is something she looks forward to hearing. If she had to narrow down her three favourite artists they would be Friendly Fires, Daft Punk and Passion Pit. Although she tends to listen to many up and new coming electro acts which she is always very fond of.

Kaya's hobbies consist of many different agendas. She enjoys drawing and working on abstract musical pieces in her spare time. Additionally, Kaya on average attends 1 gig each month in the year. The summer being the time to attend as many festivals that she can afford and approves of the lineup! For example in previous years she has attended Glasto, Reading, T in the Park and lastly her favourite dance festival, Creamfields.
Some dislikes she has in the music industry is very mainstream boybands. For example The Wanted, JLS and One Direction. She isn't particuarly keen on programs such as X Factor or Britains Got Talent due to the fixed nature of them.

Favourite shops of Kaya's can be mainly recognised as your typical high street stores. For example H&M, Zara and Urban Outfitters. Although, linking into her hobbies, she often shops online at places such as Rokit or Beyond Retro and customises clothes in her very own arty fashion.

As expected, Kaya hopes to go onto further education to result in working with music and media. Her dream and very far fetched ambition would be to work in the music industry doing something to do with music video production.

JAI PAUL- BTSTU (no video)

I have chosen to post this song to our blog as I think the genre is very similar to that of our chosen song. The electronica genre we have decided to go for is very dreamy and surreal, much like the vibes to this song my Jai Paul. The lack of video makes it easier for the mind to wonder and allows the listener to create their own video/story up in their mind. Personally I love this song and think its a great example of this genre, however if we were to use this song the lip syching could cause some problems as it is unclear and hard to decipher.

LANA DEL RAY- Video Games

I think this video of a compliation of video clips works really well as its completely a one off yet also fits with the genre.
The lip-syncing section on Lana Del Ray are filmed using just a webcam which is simple yet effective.

Here is another video created by Lana Del Rey, it again shows the same elements as 'VIDEO GAMES' shows. The concept is effective but simple and suits her genre of music. It has also now become reconisable as being one of Reys videos.

Band Name

For this section of our research and planning we only produced a small list of band names to choose from. The reason for this was that, when making a final decision on a band name we concluded that it would be much more affective to choose from a couple rather than being stuck on decision. When coming up with ideas for band names we decided that a single worded phrases was something that were were keen on rather than a collection of words.

The four names that we came up as band name ideas were as followed:
- Thagadooni
- Passonfontiane
- Bullmoose
- Addition

Over all, after conducting  a small amount of market research we have decided to name our band 'Passonfontiane' Within our group we asked some of ours peers and it seems that the chosen name was the preferred choice. We have agreed on the name 'Passonfontaine' as it is slightly out of the ordinary which is an image the that the band like to promote.

JAMES BLAKE - Limit to your Love

I've chosen to analysise James Blake as I am a fan of the way his videos are produced. The mise en scene throughout fits with his slow dreamy vocals and the electronica/idea genre. Dark shadows are created bu using dim lighting, his plain clothes and and standard surroundings enhance and suit his 'sound'.

The video is an example of disjuncture and also, shows the illustrated link between genre, lyrics and visuals. When the bass beat begins the visual on screen respond by beginning to move, thus showing an example of amplification.

Blake is shown to lip sync only certain parts of the video adding to the amplification in the video. The close ups show his full face which is then distorted slightly by post production digital effects. This suits his cool persona and idividuality of his songs by distorting his identity.

James Blake The Wilhem Scream also uses this 'blurring' effect. Making it a signature technique.

Song Choice

After taking a few songs into consideration for our final piece, as a pair we made a decision together on a song that we feel could let us develop a range of ideas in the build up to creating the final piece.

The song that we have chosen to film our final piece to is 'Wildfire' by 'SBTRKT'. Choosing this song also means sticking closely to our chosen genre of 'electronica'.

The following are the lyrics to the track and this is something that we'll have to take into consideration when incorporating ideas into our final video;

I could bet all the riches that I ever had
Rushing the night like a shark, babe
Would it be bad?
If I had to set the alarm
Cause those thrills that run up my back
You are my star
Nothing else could leave me off track

Hey
You like a wildfire
You got me rising high

Your innocence
Whose the brave
Drowning in
Would you save me
It’s a crime
If you don’t
You’re the spy
By the throat

Choosing A Genre

After choosing a several number of videos to analyse for the research and planing stages, deciding on a genre was something that we had to experiment with. After taking into consideration the different visuals that would have to feature in songs of different genres, this made it easier to immediately eliminate particular categories of music.

Once narrowing the genres down to a minimum we came up with three genres that we feel we would both like to work with when creating the final piece. These were, indie-pop, indie-rock and electronica. The main reason for narrowing the choices down to these three was based on a decision revolving around the music that we tend to listen to.

So taking all our options into consideration we have chosen to pick a song that falls into the category of 'electronica'. We hope to be taking inspiration from artists such as Crystal Fighters, Passion Pit, James Blake and many others when gathering and creating ideas for our final piece.

PASSION PIT- Little Secrets

I've chosen to analyse this video as again it uses characters which are non-identifyable using a paper bag to cover the faces. I think the disjuncture sections of the video suit the genre well keeping in with the electronic and eerie vibes to the music.

The effect used on the camera to blur the edges of the shot distorts the picture, again fitting with the mise en scene throughout of everything being a little odd and distorted.

The army of stationary people wearing brown paper bags works  really well as it suits the general characteristics of the band. The relationship between visuals and lyrics is completely abstract.

The video for Little Secrets is an example not only for disjuncture but for band performance. Within the performance the mise en scene is continued by a silhouetted affect created with a bright white light back drop. The dark shadows created with the back drop fit with the odd mixture of genres within the music- electronic synths with dreamy vocals and a heavy drum beat. The bands dressing keeps up their cool persona they've created with their image, front mans smart suits give off a classic look whilst his wild hair gives him an edge.

Overall I think the relationship between the disjucture and illustration of band performance are matched very well. The disjucture end up playing a part in the band performance wich links everything together resulting in a good video.

CRYSTAL FIGHTERS - Follow

I've  chosen to analyse this music video as it's an example of Disjuncture, in that the content shown has no obvious link to the lyrics and is entirely abstract.

There are some conventions if a band performance used for example; Lip-syncing, however the lip-syncing shown first is done by a woman who has no link to the band but plays a character in the video. The fast change between still shots creates a flickering effect showing a change in either lip colour or element of an outfit with each still. The finished length of stills gives an old fashioned feel which is emphasised by the retro look of the cafe used in the video. I think personally its suits the bands genre, which is a mixture of techno, indie vocals and electronica.

The cafe shown in the longshot at the beginning is named, 'Crystal Cafe'. This intertextuality and play on words helps the viewer identify which band the video is for as it shows a clear link to the name, 'Crystal Fighters,' also showing the bands symbol of the cafe front.

Another character used in the video is the whitch/unidentifyable man who has brown paper as a face, another example of disjucture as the character is completely abstract to the song context. I think this idea works really well giving the video a dark feel, the character has no features giving him a mystery to him. I'd like to interpret the idea of having a character with their face covered to our music video to give it an almost 'trippy' vibe.

Analysing Sun- Caribou

I've chosen to analyse this video mainly because the repetition that takes place within the visuals are a representation of the repetition that takes place in lyrics throughout the song. In addition this video is a perfect example of disjuncture taking place. The content that is shown has no apparent link to the lyrics or even a pragmatic meaning behind the lyrics.

The video does not contain any typical conventions such as a band performance or lip syncing and this is something that I am particularly fond of.  In this clip, as you can see the 'characters' that have been chosen to feature in the video have minimal connection with the song or the band. Here, the visuals are highly amplifying the music. What I mean by this is that the slow, dreamy atmosphere that is being presented through the slow paced editing is influenced by the soft, tame rhythm of the genre of the song itself.

During this part of the clip that I have 'chopped',different sources of light are being used which emphasizes the denotation of the word 'Sun' which is infact light. The use of expressive lighting which features as part of the mise en scene adds to the 'chilled' vibes that the title of the song portrays. The flickering of the lights adds a hallucination effect to the video, such as if the characters featuring in the visuals are in fact 'zoned' out by the lights and indulged in their own personal mind frame. It could be said that the male gaze has been interpreted throughout the video as the female characters dominate the males, although there is little focus on the expected areas such as the eyes or more seductive parts of the body. To conclude, there is no real, straight forward connection between the lyrics of the song and the visuals. The video itself is simplistic but effective and this is an imitation of the song 'Sun' itself.

Analysing When The Sun Goes Down- Arctic Monkeys

I have chosen to analyse this famous Arctic Monkeys video as it is a hugely clear representation of illustration. Throughout the video the images are an enormously clear representation of the song lyrics themselves. During parts of this video the visual and sound are so complimenting to each other it could be said that the images are being told through a narrative which of course is the Arctic Monkeys singing 'When The Sun Goes Down'

To begin with, I have taken the beginning 20 seconds of the video. This 20 seconds shows clearly the immediate relationship between the lyrics and the visuals. The lyrics at this point are highly illustrating the visuals which gives the song an immediate narrative from the beginning of the lyrics  kicking in. By using the lyrics as a representing narrative of the visuals this creates a story like feel to the song which indulges an audience and additionally introduces us to 'that' girl which we are then later on able to understand her actions.

Analysing Xtatic Truth- Crystal Fighters

Firstly I have chosen to analyse a Crystal Fighters video as I thoroughly enjoy the quirky styled effects and ideas that they enroll into their videos which matches their unique style of sound. At first glance of the video it seems to represent disjuncture as the meaning does seem to be completely disregarded within the visuals but the video could additionally be labelled under 'amplification' as images have been manipulated and constantly repeated which is clearly creating meaning and symbollism through the images which are actually a representation of the song lyrics itself.

This first section of the video that I have decided to 'chop' shows a perfect representation of a building relationship where the visuals are clearly amplifying the music. By this, I mean that the introduction of the song itself is particularly slow and fairly 'hazy' so therefore we see the visuals in the video matching this pace. For example little bright light and faced paced action occurs which amplifies the musics soft, 'warm' like feeling. Moving on further, as the beat of the song begins to kick in, we can see that amplification is taking place again once more, the visuals are once again being amplified and influenced by the stamina that appears to be building in the track. Although this time, the movements in the video become much more apparent, for example the dancers moving their feet perfectly in time to the beat of the song.

In this short clip it is clear that disjuncture has taken place as the visuals in face have very little connection with the current lyrics. It seems that as this particular part of the song has come to a tame enclose, the women featured in the scene has been used to in fact set the 'scene' itself. By visually featuring the 'soothing' voice on the screen, match on action is taking place which then allows an audience to indulge in the scene. In addition the hazy lighting creates a mysterious, quirky view of the characters within the video which strongly follows the genre and image of the band itself so they are carrying a sense of continuity throughout their videos in relation to artists themselves.

Busted Final Prelim Video

Busted Lip Sync- Prelim

This was the first task we were set on the A2 media studies course. This consisted of producing a group video lip syncing to a short snippet of the Busted song 'What I Go To School For'. This gave us a taster of what to expect when filming the first 1.14 of the actual Busted video. From this we learnt that to create a realistic video we had to sing the song rather than mime the lyrics. We then took this into account when filming the final prelim video as a class.
